Historical
Excavation Museum
Located on the grounds of the church in
Poblacion, the Excavation Museum displays antique coins,
jars, lamps, swords and other artifacts recovered in the
area from the sunken ships and shipwrecks of early
Chinese and Spanish traders. Hours from 9am-5pm,
Mon-Fri.
Municipal Museum:
The Puerto Galera museum provides an interesting insight
into the history and changed culture of the town through
the Spanish, American and Japanese colonial periods.
Located near the church above Muelle Pier the museum is
open most hours of daylight, except on Sundays.
The Cross at Muelle
This marble cross is one of the historical landmarks of
Puerto Galera. It was erected. to commemorate the
sinking of the battleship, Canonero Mariveles, at the
Manila channel on November 18, 1879. It is located in
Puerto Galera town proper, a 5-minute walking distance
from the poblacion center. |
